Captain Om Dutta Receives Prestigious Gallantry Award at 61st National Maritime Day Sagar Samman Awards

Captain Om Dutta’s efforts came to light during a daring rescue operation in the Philippine Waters, where the Tomini Dynasty was involved in the heroic rescue of 11 Malaysian survivors. The survivors had been adrift in a capsized boat for three days, facing imminent danger and uncertainty. Captain Dutta’s leadership and decisive actions played a pivotal role in ensuring the safe rescue of all individuals involved.

In a touching moment, Captain Om Dutta’s father, Mr. Ashwini Kumar Dutta, and Captain Sudhir Nayyar, Training Superintendent at Tomini Shipping Mumbai, accepted the award on his behalf. The ceremony, awarded by distinguished personalities including Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS Director General of Shipping, GOI & Chairman (NMDC Central Committee), and Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command, underscored the significance of Captain Dutta’s contributions to maritime safety and rescue operations.
